Ghosts Stories was one of my favorite storybooks. I found the introduction to be spectacular, it grabs your attention by telling you a backstory about the haunted house, then you learn that the story is personal. Being a big fan of ghosts stories, the introduction definitely grabbed my attention and made me want to read more. I liked the format in which the story was told and how the design of the page adhered to the format, separating in different pages the stories of the families that lived there. The way in which the story was written and personalized was amazing. I think that when we make the stories our own and re-tell them, they can be much more powerful. I really enjoyed this storybook.
Dragon's Guide to The Elements really caught my attention because I always liked dragons and being an "Avatar the Last Air Bender" fan, I am also interested in the portrayal of the elements in a story. The introduction does a great of explaining and breaking down the content of the storybooks. I found the design and images to be relevant and add visualization to the story. I will definitely consider combining two great ideas for my own storybook, like it was done here, with dragons and the elements. Overall a great and interesting storybook.
I am not familiar with Japanese mythology, but the introduction to
Sunlight's Reflection piqued my interest. The intro starts with a captivating story that draws you into the storybook. I also like the way in which the stories are broken down into overarching themes. Some of the themes include empathy, remorse, sincerity, understanding, and acceptance. I think I will use something similar in my own project to tie down the overall themes of the different stories. I liked the storybook and enjoyed learning about Japanese mythology.
